He wrote another (and better, and a whole) book on the same subject since the Icebreaker (call it Icebreaker II), and I still don't understand why it is not available in English. The book's name is "The Last Republic".
I bought this book for a friend who can read Russian. He was looking for the English version and had no idea it had also been released in Russian. He was delighted with it.
I have read some excerpts from the English edition (Hamish Hamilton, 1990) and found it enormously enlightening.
It's a shame that this work hasn't been reprinted in English.
