Oberstltn Dr Ing Schulz, Kommandant Gross Paris, captured Paris Aug 25, 1944.
Information received: Sep 16, 1944:
Oberstltn Dr Ing Schulz: In private Himmler is the pleasantest of the lot, and the only one who doesn't put anything in his own pocket. Whereas the head of the SA [Viktor Lutze] who was in his time quite a poor devil -- at first he had a medium-sized villa at Dahlem, and then suddenly he had a large villa at Dahlem -- Lutze had a car accident on his way back from a food scrounging expedition. His daughter was driving, as far as I know, and they were very drunk. Then they had a smash … on the arterial road between Wannsee and Zehlendorf.'
[Der Himmler ist privat der sympathischste, und der einzige, der nichts in seine Tasche steckte. Dagegen seinerzeit der SA Chef, der ein ganz armer Schlucker gewesen war, - der hatte erst eine mittelgroße Villa in Dahlem, dann hatte er gleich eine große Villa in Dahlem -- Lutze ist mit dem Auto verunglückt, als er von einer Hamsterfahrt zurückkam. Seine Tochter hat gesteuert, so viel ich weiß, die hatten reichlichst gesoffen. Dann sind sie auf der Autostrasse zwischen Wannsee und Zehlendorf … verunglückt.']
