An American sailor on shore leave in Hong Kong has been charged for allegedly attacking a police officer and a taxi driver, police said Sunday.
Anthony Moore, 27, faces two counts of wounding and is due to appear in court Monday, Hong Kong police spokesman T.K. Ng said.

Moore was drunk and allegedly hit a taxi driver in the head before striking a police officer on his eye, breaking one of his bones, Ng said. The driver's injury wasn't serious but the police officer was treated at a hospital, he said.

Moore's hometown and rank weren't immediately available. A reporter's calls to a U.S. Navy spokesmen went unanswered. It also not immediately clear what punishment Moore may face if convicted.

Moore serves on one of the warships that are part of the Kitty Hawk battle group, which is currently visiting Hong Kong, said U.S. Consulate General spokeswoman Susan N. Stevenson.

The Kitty Hawk battle group includes the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, which is permanently forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.
