Iran plans to buy Russian Antei-2500 anti-aircraft systems, according a spokesman for the Iranian delegation attending the fifth international air show in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
He said (March 21) Iran would like to deploy Antei-2500 anti-aircraft systems to protect strategic installations both from ballistic missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers and other types of ballistic vehicles.
Syria too has displayed an interest in buying Antei-2500s during the current air show. The system is a highly effective defensive weapon. Syria's Defense Ministry is studying the possibility of deploying the systems to protect the country's central and southern parts from ballistic missiles.
