In an Ankara briefing yesterday by senior military officials, Gen. Metin Yavuz Yalcin stated that there were three areas being considered for the deployment of Turkish troops in Iraq: the Selahuddin province to the north of Baghdad, the al-Anbar province to west of the capital and a different part of al-Anbar further north. Yalcin called the last region the least likely.
