"...The sad and fatal crash of Croatian Mi-8MTV-1 happened in a time when Zagreb is expecting Russian Federation to start delivering 10 brand-new Mi-171Sh transport helicopters to the Croatian Air Force as a part of a $65 million contract that is part of much wider agreement for repayment to Croatia from Russia of the $185,7 million Soviet-era debt. According to sources within Croatian Ministry of Defence, at last four of the delivered helicopters will be completely equipped for conducting Search and Rescue (SAR) missions.
