Russian tactical ballistic missile defence; the Antey S-300V Steven J Zaloga Jane's Intelligence Review
"The Antey S-300V, known in the West as the SA-12 'Gladiator/Giant', is the world's first tactical anti-ballistic missile system. Unlike the US 'Patriot' system, which was developed first as an anti-aircraft system and then had ATBM capabilities added, the S-300V was developed from the outset with the ATBM mission as its primary role". Guidance is managed by the 9S32-1 'Grill Pan' radar, which "is accurate to within 7-8 min of arc in angle, 0.7-1.4 m/s in speed, and 10-15 in range of its targets". "The system represents the pinnacle of Soviet tactical SAM development and provides capabilities found on no other system in the world".
