В Таймсе ничего толкового не нашел - первое общее упоминание аж в 1937 году - что то вроде национализации (18 апреля)

В Джейне можно почитать краткие истории итальянских верфей
навроде, но тольку мало - точной даты нет

Workforce

The workforce totals 852 in 2002: 603 blue collar workers, 232 administrative staff, 12 managers and 5 directors.

Fabrication, Assembly, Refit and Repair Facilities

The yard covers a surface area of approximately 120,000 m², of which almost 48,000 m² is covered.
It is equipped with a slipway which is 188 m long and 32 m wide, supported by four cranes.
In 1998 the submarine production line was transferred from Monfalcone to Muggiano, this was made possible by replacing the slipway with the new Ship and Submarines Assembly Workshop.
There is also a 2,400 m² assembly hall for hydrofoils.
The steel fabrication and prefabrication shops are beside the module shop which in turn is beside the slipway.
The outfitting docks, supported by six cranes, provide 1,200 m of berths.

Contracts

The shipyard is currently engaged in building:

Two U212A class submarines for the Italian Navy (delivery due in 2005 and 2006);
One research vessel for the Italian Navy (delivery due 2002);
Five "Saetta" class patrol vessels for the Coast Guard (delivery due between 2002 and 2003).
The shipyard is currently engaged in refitting three "Sauro" class submarines for the Italian Navy.

Comment

The present Muggiano shipyard is the result of a consolidation in 1913 of the Cantieri Navale Muggiano Shipyard and the adjacent Fiat-San Giorgio Shipyard.
Cantieri Navale Muggiano Shipyard was established in 1883 as Giorgio Henfrey & Co., repairing ships used to transport mineral ore for the Pertusola foundry. In 1885 the first steamship, the Maratea was launched and two years later, having been taken over by the British company Continental Lead and Iron Company Limited, it started building steel-hulled sailing vessels. However, this new production met with little success with customers and serious difficulties ensued which culminated in 1893 with the closure of the Shipyard, which, in 1897 was taken over by Hofer, Manaira & Co., later succeeded by Societ Anonima Cantieri Navali del Muggiano (SACNM). In 1906 the shipyard was taken over by Societ Cantieri Navali Riuniti, Genoa.
Fiat-San Giorgio Shipyard was established next to the Cantieri Naval Muggiano in 1905 as the Fiat-Muggiano Shipyard. In 1907 the shipyard changed its name to Fiat-San Giorgio and started building submarines for Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Great Britain, Japan, Russia, Sweden and Holland. In 1913 Fiat-San Giorgio incorporated the small shipyard of Muggiano and created a single production unit Fiat San-San Giorgio Shipyard, specialising in building motor ships and submarines.
This activity continued until 1944 under various company names (Ansaldo-San Giorgio from 1918; Odero-Terni from 1927; Odero-Terni-Orlando from 1930). In those years naval and merchant vessels of large tonnages were built for Italy and abroad, as well as approximately ninety submarines.
Following partial destruction during the war major reconstruction was carried out, for example, the construction of new slipways in reinforced concrete and work on the workshops at the base of the fitting out dockyard.
In 1949 the Shipyard was acquired by Ansaldo. From 1971, as Cantiere Navale Muggiano S.p.A., the shipyard continued to produce merchant ships until 1975 when it returned to its traditional naval vocation - enhanced by its incorporation into Cantieri Navali Riuniti at the end of 1981 - building vessels for the Italian Navy and the navies of various countries: Libya Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Iraq.
In 1984, when Fincantieri took control of the company, the Shipyard became part of the current Naval Vessel Business Unit (previously Naval Constructions Division) together with the Riva Trigoso yard, with which its production is successfully integrated.
The yard is used to produce corvettes, FACs and patrol boats. It is now also responsible for submarine construction.
