When the Kub (SA-6) and Osa-AK (SA-8) radars locked the decoys and fired missiles against them, around 14:14 hs, 26 F-4E Phantoms armed with antiradar missiles (AGM-45 Shrikes and AGM-78 Standards) detected and destroyed 19 radars. This was a hard strike for the AQAJAS, due to the destroyed radars also provided the ground guidance to the MiGs against the Israeli airplanes. In consequence, the Syrian aircrafts were left almost blind.

On the Israeli side, however, the guidance was provided by two AEW planes E-2C Hawkeye (courtesy of the US Navy).
