Responding to a question on the exclusion of Evolution Theory from the curriculum, the Minister of National Education, Ismet Yilmaz said that the draft is open for feedbacks, and the Evolution Theory is not an exception. Yilmaz claimed that “whether it is scientific, merely a hypothesis, or just theoretical, all these are debatable.”
The Minister of National Education for the Islamic rooted Turkish government, Ismet Yilmaz, announced a new curriculum for the 2017-2018 school academic year.
Yilmaz said that Darwin’s findings are “just a theory”: “Darwin’s work is based only on theory. In fact, this is the same as a Big Bang theory in physics. These issues require a separate discussion outside of the school curriculum“
