SR-71
Production is believed to have totalled 32 aircrafts all two seaters with two later modified into SR-71B trainers along with a single SR-71C. By 1988 only 6 SR-71 remained operational and the type was withdrawn from service in November 1989. An official retirement ceremony was held at Beale AFB in January 1990 and during the course of that year the remaining USAF aircraft were distributed as gate guardians with examples going to Edwards AFB Robins AFB Castle AFB Beale AFB and March AFB. Two others went to Air Force Museum at Wright - Patterson AFB and the Smithonian Air & Space Museum. Others were placed in "flyable storage" with Lockheed at Palmdale and NASA received 3 for undesignated purposes.
