NEW YORK -- A Hasidic community founder who fled to Israel after being accused of stealing from federal anti-poverty programs pleaded guilty to conspiracy and mail fraud. While Chaim Berger, 75, was fighting extradition last year, President Bill Clinton reduced the prison sentences of four other New Square community leaders. Prosecutors are investigating whether the commutations are linked to the village's overwhelming vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 2000 Senate race.
