"Oil Storm", Fox TV

пересказ видевшего фильм

3 дня кряду шел фильм по каналу Fox (сеть DTV 248 FX), по два раза в день, с 3-го по 5-е. Выходные данные - снято 20th C. Fox Television в 2005 году. Стиль - "под документальный", политико-экономическая фантастика. Видеоряд натурных съемок, соответствующий закадровому комментарию перемежается с типа интервью высокопоставленных клерков США, занимающие вымышленные должности и имеющие вымышленные фамилии.

События 5 сент.2005. Шторм и ураган уничтожают нефтяной терминал в Луизианне. Подвоз нефти из Залива невозможен на 12 мес. Цена на бензин внутри страны 4.50 за галлон. Назначается главный по нефти с полномочиями диктатора (Он в кадре). Договариваются с саудитами о доп.добыче, берут под военный контроль нефтедобычу Аравии. Видеоряд - очереди на заправках, в семье военных, уходящих на аравийский фронт.

Взрыв в Аравии, минус 70% ее добычи, масса американских жертв. Нефть усиленно ищут по всему миру, она перенаправляется в Бостон. 6.50 за галлон. Середина осени. Столкновение танкеров в горле залива Бостона, паралич нефтепроизводства. Бензин - 8.50 за галлон., на бирже - 150 за баррель, биржа имеет целью 200 за баррель. Заправка одного джипа - 200 долларов.

Назначают в обход традиций нового нефтяного менеджера всея Штатов выходца из СССР. Он едет к Владимиру Путину и договаривается о массовых поставках. Почти хеппи энд.

Беда. Уже в пути танкеры перекупает КНР. На переговоры не идет. Падает курс доллара, растет золото, массово закрываются бизнесы, отменяются субсидии фермерам, рубится социал, начинаются уличные беспорядки. Бывший наш едет опять на переговоры с Владимиром Путиным. На кон ставятся еще 16 млрд. баксов инвестиций в нефтедобычу и перекачку кроме цены за саму нефть. В Америке региструются массовые голодные и холодные смерти. Зима.

Ура! Путинская нефть доходит до адресата, потихоньку запускается терминал в Луизианне. Нефть - 75 доллара за баррель. Голос за кадром на прощания - урок извлечен и ясно, что как мы жили раньше, жить уже не будем.

Впечатления. С учетом современной техники и документального архива такое кино монтируется максимум за неделю. Одно уже кино было, с Брюсом, где падает небоскреб, взорванный автотараном ("The Siege", 1998, по ТВ шел в 2000-м) и где полно всяких арабских террористов, армии и военного положения в Нью-Йорке.

За обедом за соседними столиками было несколько обсуждений - народу за 6-8 показов фильм посмотрело много. В первый час фильма на удивление не шла реклама совсем.

Что это ?
Варианты:
- так, просто, совпадение и только
- тестируется общество на всхожесть по теме
- кто-то таким образом слил чей-то план или часть его

Личные впечатления. Немного тягостные. Fox канал входит во все сети обычно в базовые недорогие пакеты, степень охвата аудитории огромная. Обычно по нему идут фильмы более 5-летней давности, типа все "Lethal Weapon", все "Die Hard" и проч. Фильм очень дешевый - ни актерской игры, ни спец.эффектов - документальный видеоряд и текст + вставки инсценировки интервью.

Did anyone catch this "mock-u-drama" on the FX network last night?

Quick overview: Presented in the style of a Frontline-style story, it tells the story of how a massive hurricane wipes out Gulf of Mexico oil extraction and refinery capability in September 2005. The economic impact is immediate with gas prices skyrocketing. The damage is compounded when 2 tankers collide in the Houston refinery channel--a result of the rush demanded by the energy secretary to get oil spigot turned back on as soon as possible. By Christmas, American troops are being deployed to Saudi Arabia to secure their oilfields and refineries. Terrorists blow up a Saudi refinery, killing hundreds of American troops, further anguishing America and injuring our economy. Gas is $8 a gallon. Businesses are failing. People can't afford to heat their homes (many are freezing to death in them); as the economy spirals downward the government slashes farm subsidies to recover budget shortfalls; farms begin to fail; America experiences food shortages--farmers March on Washington to demand the prioritization of "Food-Not Oil!" There is unrest in the streets. A former Russian official and friend of Putin is named by the President (Bush) to be oil czar and he negotiates a deal with Russia to increase imports of that countries oil--but as the tankers are enroute, China steps in and outbids us for that oil. America is stunned with the realization that it is no longer the world's economic superpower. The oil czar returns to the table with Putin and renegotiates a sweeter deal for Russia, promising American assistance in upgrading Russian oil industry technology and capability. The tankers are turned around once again, America gets the oil it needs; a year after the hurricane, American oil production and refinement are back near full capacity and the economy is on the mend (albeit with gas prices permanently parked at over $4 a gallon. The American people are humbled by the hard year; lessons have been learned ("Hey! We need to be forward thinking with our energy policy !"). THE END.

All the while as I watched this I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. This was a Fox production. It was fiction, yet it named President Bush and Condi Rice--in a complimentary fashion. It depicted America spiraling downward as a result of it's dependence on foreign oil, and portrayed the deployment of American troops for the expressed purpose of securing that oil--then a vicious terrorist attack upon them. Oh...my...God...it began to dawn on me. This is propaganda-fiction! They are SOFTENING us up for more war. They are trying to terrify us into accepting that we will have to march across the globe TAKING what we need in order to preserve the American Way of Life.

Well, the resolution wasn't quite so extreme, but I couldn't escape the feeling that I was being manipulated. And if you believe Fox is a hand-in-glove operative of BushCo then would be even harder to escape that feeling. Yes the solution was palatable and instructive, but if I could sense it might be heading in a scarier direction, then most others should have as well. The seed was planted.

Там тоже сперва взрыв на нефтеперерабатывающем заводе в Сибири и оттуда, в обход всякой логики, война СССР против НАТО.

Так и тут: уничтожен терминал в Луизиане. Горе всей Америке! Остались неуничтоженные куча портов, но направляют суда в Бостон. Взрыв в Саудии. Что взорвалось-то, чтоб всё перекосить? Столкновение в Бостон Харбор. Я живу в Бостоне, видел этот Бостонский Залив. Ну столкнулись, ну и что? Порт закрывать? И так далее, по нарастающей, "а вдоль дороги - мёртвые с косами стоят... и тишина"(с).

Обращение за нефтю к России, при наличии нефти в Мексике, Венесуеле и Ираке, где, исxодя из состояния ЧП воизбежании диверсий всех несоюзников и не персонал Шелл-Тексако-Шеврон выселяют без права появлятся в пределах видимости - обращение к России как к единственному альтернативному источнику нефти весьма странно.

Кстати, я фильм не видел, о фильме не слышал, на работе у меня никто этот фильм не обсуждал.

А был ли мальчик(с), в смысле "резонанс от просмотра"?

Ну почему,обсуждают вовсю, нажмите первый сабж в гугле. В конце пример свежего обсуждения на каком-то сайте -фильм только что прошел. я не знаю, как и где он прошел - судя по обсуждениям,его крутили последние несколько недель в разных штатах

Там же даже ГОЛОС ЗА КАДРОМ , для самых тормозных, сказал


"Голос за кадром на прощание - урок извлечен и ясно, что как мы жили
раньше, жить уже не будем."

- а прочее похоже на типичный фастфуд для самых обычных зрителей, потому
так часто фигурирует ключевая "цена заправки твоего кара". Ключик к
"поведению потребителя" - оно же и мотор экономики - тут

Не будет дешевой и "легкой" нефти,за нее "этим парням в вашингтоне" (и
"нашим парням в горячих точках") надо всерьез, не жалея усилий и даже крови,
бороться.. Не будет дешевой энергии, кончай разевать безразмерый рот
(пока еще не"затягивай пояса" - финал счастливый). Как раз сейчас в разгаре
кризис с "крейсерами" всего ЮС производительного капитала - ДжМоторс и Форд, авто
продажи ЮС каров резко снизились, акции котируются чуть ли не как
спекулятивные

Что ВВП выведен в фильме как "друг" - это все ж в знач степени чухня голливудская
(правда,не знаю, насколько обыватель в курсе,что русскую нефть амеры
потребляют). Вот кто враг -это однако ж симптом 2005, что китайцы
выведены как конкуренты в борьбе за источники нефти, из-за которых "ты
даже - вот смотри в случае чего- не сможешь залить бак своего кара".
Стрелки переводятся с "саддама" на "сяо"

FOX (по крайней мере FOX News) -
активнейший пиарщик бушевской команды. Во многом благодаря ему Буш
"выиграл" во Флориде в 2000 году (FOX первым широко объявил о победе и
тем самым стало считаться, что она состоялась). Также FOX яростно
отстаивал войну в Ираке, а противовес "диссидентскому" комментарию CNN.

Вывод, за вычетом авантюрного сюжета, модет быть в том, что команде Буша вынодны высокие цены на нефть и она собирается играть на их дальнейшее повышение. А население поэтому приучают на наглядных примерах и уровне рефлексов к "концу эпохи дешевой неяти"

Anyone watch that FX movie/mockdocumentary, "Oil Storm" that was on 100
times Sunday/Monday?

I thought it was pretty good, but I must say that I was surprised to see
the anti-Bush administration undertone/spin on the whole thing. After
all, this was a Fox affiliate! Is Fox changing to a left wing stance?
It couldn't be!

I'm glad to hear someone else say that... I saw it too and I was thinking
"the hell?"

I thought it was OK although they didn't take it as far as it really would
have gone.

Or maybe no one saw it before it aired :D

Yea, it was over the top in some instances, but it was scary to see what
might happen if our oil supply was cut off. Scary to the point I dreamt
about it all night on Sunday.

I had it on last night while working. I didn't pay attention to every
second of it, so I might have missed something, but I did find it
interesting that in the end everything kinda went back to the way it
was and the "typical white american family" opened back up their gas
station.

There was no new initiative to find alternate fuels, no weird
underground economy to supply energy and transportation in some other
way. I know that the whole point of the movie was that running low on
oil in America would do more than just make driving to work more
expensive, but I have a little more faith in American ingenuity than
what they showed. I guess if there is an oil shortage we should all
just lay down and cry, waiting for the government to fix it?

Aside from that aspect, I liked the show. I generally have enjoyed
the recent few mockdocumentaries about the Yellowstone Supervolcano
and the like that have been popping up on cable.

How do you think these mockumentries affect people's perception of the
world around them? Do you think it is the beginning of preparing people
for change? Used like a survey poll to judge peoples reaction to
possible scenarios? Or used to start the brain washing to a certain view
of a situation or response to a possible situation?

I've not watched either of the two mentioned but a neighbor mentioned
something he watched over the weekend that took place in the near future
and involved attacking Saudi Arabia. He thought it was being used to
further the Bush's camps view of the world and prepare us for a Bush
response. Again I did not see it. But found my neighbors comments
interesting.

I can't speak for everyone (I'll leave that for Matt, LOL), but
personally speaking, it opened my eyes quite a bit. As I wrote
somewhere in this thread, I dreamt about the movie/mockdoc all night
that night, and it still hasn't escaped me yet. Of course, I know that
it was all based on fictional events, but still, the underlying message
of what could happen as a result of our extreme independance on oil
scares the heck out of me. I realized that it isn't just an issue of me
not being able to drive my big gas guzzling pickup on the highway, it's
an issue of how much oil is used in our lives every day, and how
disastrous it would (will?) be if we were completely cut off. Scared
the hell out of me.

Now, what am I going to do about it? Not too much, admittedly. But, my
eyes are open and I will support alternatives when I think that they are
viable. So I guess you could say it changed my perception of the world
around me. And it is prepping me for change.

I also think that the hybrid craze right now is doing the same thing.
Opening up people's eyes to change their consumption habits for the better.

It's my personal belief that gas prices will never go down from curent
levels. Demand in developing countries couples with increasingly
scarce resources is only going to make it more expensive over the next
10-20 years. Invest in the alternative fuels that fill the gaps and
you could make a fortune...

Не надо путать FOX News канал и FX канал по которому это "кино" показывали.
FX - чиста развлекательный канал и кажись даже финансируется разными людьми.
