Croatia adds 10 Mil Mi-171Sh helos to its fleet

The Croatian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a USD65 million deal for 10 Mil Mi-171Sh medium-lift helicopters with Russia's defence export agency, Rosoboronexport.

The deal will strengthen the Croatian Air Force's fleet of transport aircraft and includes spare parts and equipment for the helicopters, which will be manufactured by the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.

The first delivery of two new-build Mi-171s is expected later in 2006, according to a Croatian MoD official. Deliveries are expected to be completed in 2008 and the helicopters will see service until at least 2038.

The helicopters are part of USD200 million in reparations from Russia and they will join Mil Mi-8AMT helicopters, which have been in service since 1991.

According to the MoD spokesman, seven of 15 Mi-8s delivered are currently in service.

The spokesman told Jane's that the Mi-171 helicopters would be used for troop and medical transportation, rather than for combat purposes. It is unlikely the Mi-171s will take part in NATO peacekeeping operations.

The spokesperson would not comment on what type of equipment will be installed on the helicopters, but some of the electronic subsystems may come from Russia, while it is possible that navigation and flight equipment made by Western companies could also be included.

In August 2001, Ulan-Ude showed an upgraded Mi-171A at the Russian Air and Space Salon (MAKS) featuring a rear cargo ramp (straight-sided, compared with the Kazan version), an enlarged starboard passenger door and powered by a Klimov VK-2500 turboshaft, which was also installed on the latest examples of Mi-171s.

This is the second military delivery of Mi-171 helicopters in Europe. In 2005 16 Mi-171 helicopters were delivered to the Czech Republic.

Активы СФРЮ поделили между ее республиками

Включая и иностранные долги ей, уважаемый jeesup. Хорватии досталось 200 млн долл. А долг этот югославам образовался вследствие того, что советский торговый баланс с СФРЮ долгие годы отрицательный был, как я помню. СССР больше покупал в Югославии, чем продавал ей.

А "долгие годы" - это примерно какие?

Насколько я помню, после нефтяного кризиса 70-х (по крайней мере) ситуация с балансом была обратная.

Основные долги возникли с середины 80-х, когда цены на нефть просели, а закупать за границе, наоборот, стали куда больше - причем под конец перестройки стали закупать без обеспечения (но навешивая на государство).
