A Chance Vought F4U-1 Corsair, a Navy fighter plane, is shown in an undated photo released by the U.S. Navy Airships. The federal government has filed a lawsuit against an airplane collector demanding the return of the wreckage of the World War II Corsair fighter that the Navy abandoned after it crashed in a North Carolina swamp in 1944. Historical airplane enthusiasts say the plane Lex Cralley dug out of the swamp near the North Carolina coast is the only one of its kind known to still exist.

An honor guard from the Maryland Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans is on hand, Friday, March 26, 2004, at the Hartzler Funeral Home in Libertytown, Md., as a casket containing sediment from the sunken submarine H.L. Hunley is wheeled into a memorial service honoring Confederate seaman Joseph F. Ridgaway, who died when the submarine sank off the South Carolina coast 140 years ago. Ridgaway, who was born in Talbot County in 1836 will be buried with other crew members in Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston, S.C., next month.
