Когда опрокинулась лодка с которой все началось, то кроме ам.солдата утонуло двое полицейских и переводчик.
Отчего рухнул вертолет неизвестно.
Baghdad, Iraq-AP) Jan. 25, 2004 - An Iraqi police officer has been shot and killed while securing the search area near where a US military helicopter crashed into the Tigris River in northern Iraq.
Witnesses say the Iraqi was killed in a drive-by shooting.
Meanwhile, the search continues for the two pilots on board the helicopter, which went into the river in the city of Mosul.
The helicopter had been part of a search for another American soldier missing since a boat capsized in the river earlier in the day. The soldier had been part of a river patrol with three other soldiers and some Iraqi policemen.
A military spokeswoman says the other soldiers who were on the boat are safe, but two Iraqi police officers and an Iraqi translator were killed.
The spokeswoman isn't saying what caused the crash of the search helicopter.
