Brazil industry: Competition for the purchase of defence aircraft is launched
An international competition for the purchase of defence aircraft has been re-launched. Five competitors have submitted new bids for a US$700m
contract. Embraer, with its French partner Dassault, is the frontrunner.
Russia's Rosoboronexport has joined forces with a smaller local company, Avibras. Grippen (Sweden/UK), Rac Mig (Russia) and Lockheed Martin (US) are
also in the race. The bidding process had been cancelled following last year's presidential election.
