Pentagon Set for Milestone Decision for F-22 Raptor

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Defense is scheduled to make a decision on the low-rate initial production of the F-22 Raptor fighter in December, despite indications that Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush wants a review of all U.S. tactical aircraft programs once he takes office.
The Texas governor has begun making transition plans for his new administration despite unresolved election disputes.
“This is a decision that has to be made,” Air Force spokeswoman Gloria Cales told DefenseNews.com Dec. 1. She said the Pentagon’s Defense Acquisition Board (DAB) will meet Dec. 21 to decide on moving the F-22 program from the engineering manufacturing and development phase to the early stages of production.
A decision to move the aircraft program forward will result in a $2.1 billion, low-rate initial production contract to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., Marietta, Ga., for 19 F-22 Raptors.
Meanwhile, national security advisers with the Bush campaign have indicated a Bush presidency would order a review of all DoD tactical aircraft programs, including the F-22, the Joint Strike Fighter and the F/A-18E/F. Because of this, industry and congressional sources have suggested the Pentagon might delay an F-22 decision until the next administration.
Not so said the Air Force’s Cales. “I do not expect a delay.”
In addition, Lockheed Martin remains confident a decision will be made this month. “We are confident we will satisfy all the DAB criteria by the end of the year,” Lockheed Martin’s F-22 program spokesman Greg Caires told DefenseNews.com Dec. 1. “There is no technical reason to defer a decision.”
Pentagon acquisition chief Jacques Gansler will chair the DAB meeting. When asked about the Dec. 21 DAB meeting and suggestions of a delay, Gansler’s spokeswoman, Cheryl Irwin, told DefenseNews.com, “We are declining to comment at this time.”
If the Pentagon decides to begin low-rate production of the F-22, Lockheed Martin will build 10 planes in 2001 (те самые 10 ед.), 16 in 2002 and 24 in 2003. Full-rate production would then be expected to commence in 2004 and continue through 2013, building 339 of the advanced fighters at an average price of $84 million a plane.
Это видимо "стоимость производства" (без учета РэндД) - вся программа F-22 (НИОКРы, и полная серия из 339 ед.) оценивается в 62.7-63.4 млрд. долл. - то бишь "реальная" цена одного файтера при полной серии будет 186-187 млн. :))
>Как сообщило Управление информации министерства обороны США, 36% работ будет проведено на заводах компании Lockheed Martin в г.Мариетта (штат Джорджия), еще 30% в г.Форт-Уэрт (штат Техас) и 24% на заводах компании Boeing Co., расположенных в г.Сиэтл (штат Вашингтон).
Я так думаю, что это или один из серии контрактов на проивзодство 10 машин, или кто-то с цифрами напутал

исходя из 2.1 млрд. долл. за 19 машин малой (первоначальной) серии будет 110 млн. за машину (это без учета R&D)
