GUERILLA TANK ATTACKSIraqi troops have used the cover of sandstorms to launch guerilla attacks on coalition supply convoys around Nasiriyah, according to Sky News correspondent Ross Appleyard, who is with coalition forces outside the city.
Iraqi tanks hidden in the desert are moving up to truck convoys under the cover of the storms and opening fire from close range, he said.
"Coalition night vision equipment can't see through sandstorms so these convoys just grind to a halt," Appleyard said.
"During the last sandstorm, which was horrific, an Iraqi tank appeared out of nowhere, around 400 yards from a convoy of soft-topped trucks, and began firing.
