Опознание кораблей (+ 2 Exeter по опознаванию Aoba)
Японцы
Что за крейсер?

Китайская канонерка?

Две новые фотографии на опознавание
Вроде как Kako

и вроде как Chokai

2 Exeter

Тамошние деятели пришли к такому же выводу.
Я выдерну их аргументы
Начальное письмо с указанием источника фотографии:
Received this from Mucho:
Hi, Ed-san
I wonder if we have seen this pic before? I suspect a certain name of ship but am not dead-sure, but one thing is certain, this is part of No.6 Sentai. Source of origin is from" Umi to Sora " magazine issued probably before or during the war, it’s number unknown. One can guess the time of this shot, and the name of the ship to the right in starboard turn.

2.Первые аргументы опознавателей
Hi Ed and Mucho!
Muchos gracias for the marvelous photo! :-)
My guess is that we see KINUGASA in (spring) 1942. My reasoning is:
1. The absence of funnel bands indicates a wartime photo (that the photo was taken during a time the ship in question was not incorporated into Sentai 6 prewar is unlikely; in that case she would sail alone in all probability without being escorted by another heavy cruiser, moreover my impression is that a seaplane is on the aircraft deck which she wouldnґt carry if out of commission, I assume)
2. AOBA was RAdm Gotoґs flagship during 1942 and as such flew the Admiralґs flag in the mainmast top. The ship in question doesnґt show any flag as it seems so she must be KINUGASA.
3. There are several photos taken on board AOBA dating spring 1942. It seems likely that any reporter travelling with Sentai 6 would board the flagship to support his article by interviews with the CO of the sentai and his staff.
Cheers,
Alex
2. Дополнительные данные :)
BTW, AOBA was incorporated into 6 Sentai Nov 15th.,1940.
// KINUGASA in Mar. 1st, 1941, thus making a total of 4 cruisers.
3. Таки Aoba :)
The first picture is the "higher quality" picture that I attached but added one which has been enhanced with better contrast. The other two goes with this message:

HI, Ed-san
In here, one can narrowly see a small blip in the back the rear mast.
Even if this is the flagship, the admiralґs flag is too small to see from this distance and
in this inferior resolution.
In this case, naval ensign is hoisted as the battle-flag( = Sentou Ki )
AFAIR , 6_7 different sizes of ensings were stored .....this must be the smallest size.
As a reference, a pic of AOBA( in almost silhuette) is attached. (from "Ships of the World",
number unknown)
Another pic is FURUTAKA, ...... the first pic and this one were taken by the same photographer,
from the same ship, and at the same period, as these are series of pics used for "Umi to Sora"
magazine.
Friendly,
Mucho
А это Furutaka
