OBS

OBSERVATION BALLOON SYSTEM
OBS is an observation balloon system which consists of a gimballed, stabilized, high-resolution color CCD camera suspended from a helium-filled balloon. The balloon can be deployed from any mobile or fixed carrier fitted for this purpose. A single cable serves for mooring the balloon, for power and for two-way communication. The video signals are transmitted through a fiber-optic link within the same cable, immune to electromagnetic interferences.

The TV camera is gyro-stabilized in two axes and is controlled in azimuth and elevation through a joystick on the control panel installed on the carrier. Through this panel, the operator can control the focus and select the field-of-view (FOV) out of three possible FOVs. The image observed by the camera is displayed on a monitor, including azimuth and elevation parameters.

When not in use, balloon and cable are folded and the payload is packed in a container. Preparation for observation includes inflating the balloon, suspending the camera and releasing the balloon. The system deployment lasts 20 minutes.

The system has both civilian and military applications. It already provides services not available from alternative sources.

Stalker
Autonomous Reconnaissance and Target Acquisition System
Combat Proven, Automatic, Real-Time Target Acquisition
The Stalker is a combat-proven, mobile, Autonomous Reconnaissance and Target Acquisition System (ARTAS). It provides real-time data on both stationary and moving targets, at day and night, and in adverse weather conditions. This versatile, long range reconnaissance unit is suitable for a variety of applications:

Surveillance
Battlefield intelligence
Artillery fire control
Protection of installations
Field maneuvers monitoring
Special units
Border protections
Internal security
Drug law enforcement
The Stalker is lightweight - four wheeled vehicle portable - and completely modular. It is operated by a simple, computer controlled console, and a dedicated keyboard, with the help of predefined menus.

The Stalker crew requirement is minimal: operator and driver.

Total Battlefield Management Capability
The Stalker provides a total Target Management capability on the battlefield. The Stalker:

Can store and manage up to 100 designated targets in its memory; new targets can be automatically added and stored
Enables easy target location and target data storage and retrieval
Relates preset targets to its navigation system updated location, allowing instantaneous designated target pointing
Allows real-time position updates
Tracks moving targets and is capable of automatic tracking of targets moving out and back into its field of view
Can transmit its video data as well as computer/VCR stored information to any other receiving station

STALKER Main Features:

Long range surveillance of battlefield
Day and night high resolution imagery acquisition
Total Target Management capability
High accuracy target location: 80 m at 20 km
Pointing to pre-determined coordinates
High accuracy navigation: inertial with GPS backup option
Moving target automatic tracking capability
Transmission of high resolution imagery signals
Fully computer controlled VCR operation
In its current design, the Stalker is installed on a lightweight military multipurpose vehicle M-240-STORM 4x4 (175 Hp) built by Automotive Industries (Israel) Ltd.; it can be adapted to any other similar vehicle.
