Немного легкой оффтопики
Здравствуйте,
вот, интервью одно попалось, с неким Jhon Tiller, вроде как один из создателей игры под названием Squad Battles (может видел кто? я лично нет). Вопрос следующий - и чья же армия была лучшей в ВМВ (во какая формулировка!), а поскольку он "специалист по войскам", то, тык-скыть, и карты в руки...
Q: and just one final question: Who was the best army in WW2? (grins) There's been a bit of a debate here recently - it will be interesting to see how one who works with the forces all day see's that issue.
A: I think I'll take the opportunity to answer that question at the Squad Battles scale since I've admitted that is being worked right now. In a typical American squad for example, most everyone had an M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle. Contrasting to that, in the typical German squad, most everyone had a bolt action Carbine 98k or something similar to that. So at this basic level, you find that the Americans had better firepower. But then, the Germans added to this their excellent machine guns of the MG-34 and MG-42. They would also include a few submachine guns of the MP line, which gives them a lot of short range firepower. So this tends to balance out the differences at long or short ranges. The Americans, although they would have a few M-3 submachine guns here and there, would include a Springfield sniper rifle in the TO&E of an infantry squad, which I understand most of the sharpshooters issued this would quickly find a replacement for in the field. And then the Americans would throw in at the company and battalion level a very large number of tripod-mounted 30 and 50 caliber machine guns, giving them a very strong defensive firepower capability. Finally, both sides would have a number of short range anti-tank weapons such as the Bazooka and Panzerfaust. So, taking all this together, it's clear there is no single answer to the question at this level, but rather it is a multidimensional issue, one that makes wargaming such a fascinating study I think.
Для тех не знает английского, суть следующая (тезисно):
1) для ответа на этот вопрос необходимо и достаточно рассмотреть огневые возможности подразделений воюющих сторон, поскольку Squad Battles уж такая хорошая вещь, ну такая хорошая...
2) у немцев, конечно, очень крутые машиненгеверы и пистоли,но у американцев, как никак, повсюду полуавтоматика и пулеметы на ротном и батальонном уровне (которых у немцев, надо полагать, нет).
3) по противотанковому оружию - ничья, так как что базука что панцерфауст - одно xpeн-дерево.
4) в общем, претендентов только два (кто бы сомневался), и играйтесь во всякие игрушки чтобы определить кто же из них наилучший.
Так-то, товарищи эрудиты. А некоторые еще удивляются, чего это все игрушки какие-то дурные получаются?
