Iraqi anti-aircraft artillery managed to "take control of the drone and force it to land" after it had "violated Iraqi airspace to undertake a spying mission," a military spokesman said. Incidents in the skies over Iraq are an almost daily occurrence, as US and British waplanes overfly "no-fly" zones imposed on the north and south of the country after the 1991 Gulf war which are not recognized by Iraq.
