Танк ругают не за бронирование, а за изначально убогую концепцию двухчленного экипажа и слабое вооружение:
"They were many exploits during this campaign and the small R35s often did wonders. The 40 mm armour proved impervious to the 37 mm shells over 300 metres. But the R35 was not designed to fight the Blitzkrieg war it had to face and the mechanic was often pushed to its limits with dire consequences. In the end, the tank revealed itself as correctly armoured and robust, but was that sufficient to obviate the bad off-road capacities and still more to the weak armament with no antitank capability?"
