"Irresponsible?
Roman's team is the "A" Team of military vehicle restoration. Any action that's good enough for them is good enough for everyone else too.
Equipment fails from lack of use. Do you realize how many suspension and drive components fail from sitting still?
A tank that sits as a monument is just as surely ruined as one that has an engine failure.
Besides, there's NOTHING that can't be fixed with enough effort.
If people are going to be interested in military history and the armor community wants to be a part of that then stuff needs to run and drive. If it doesn't then it's really no different from a big fancy 3D image. So what if it quits, get a tow cable and haul it in and fix it.
You might be able to make the argument with aircraft as if an ac crashes it is usually destroyed but the tank is no worse off if the engine seizes because that's for damn sure what is going to happen if it never gets run"
