A Palestinian stabs the hanging body of alleged collaborator Raed al-Liftawi in the central square of the West Bank town of Ramallah early 12 March 2002. Liftawi was killed by Palestinians after he was believed to have collaborated with the Israeli army in the killing of Mohanad Abu Halawa. Halawa, 23, an ex-Force 17 officer who later became a chief in the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, was wanted by Israel for the killing of eight Israelis. Liftawi, a Palestinian, is believed to have marked the car in which Abu Halawa was traveling 05 March in order to facilitate the Israeli rocket attack on his vehicle.
