An Israeli Armoured Personnel Carrier takes position 27 November 2001 in the fields outside Jenin, from where the Israeli army withdrew earlier this month after reoccupying part of the autonomous Palestinian town in the West Bank. On the same day, two Palestinian gunmen opened fire on Israelis, killing two and wounding dozens, in the northern Israeli town of Afula, some 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) north of Jenin.
