Using design features from another firearm when designing a new firearm is nothing new. It seems like most designers do this. It was very interesting to see how much of the M-1 Garand was put into the AK-47.
It seems General Patton's "greatest battle implement of the war" (WWII), fathered the greatest military rifle of the world.
