Work Boot Stops Loaded 737
An airport worker at Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport knows Russian, and that's a good thing. He saw a 737, full of passengers, slowly rolling towards a highway. He yelled at the pilot of the Lithuanian Airways jet to hit the brakes (in Russian), but the reply (also in Russian) was that the brakes weren't working.
Abandoning the use of Russian to communicate, he tried direct action, and quickly pulled off his boot and shoved it under one of the plane's wheels.
40-year-old Michaelov Abrosh did the right thing. It worked, anyway; though the boot is deformed [Lucky he pulled it off first! --ed] Airport workers hauled the plane back to where it could be repaired.
