Exhibition Verbrechen der Wehrmacht. Dimensionen des Vernichtungskrieges 1941-1944 will be shown to the public from November 28, 2001 until January
13, 2002 in cooperation with Kunst-Werke Berlin.
The new exhibition of the Hamburg Institute for Social Research about the crimes of the Wehrmacht will be shown to the public for the first time in November 2001 in Berlin, in cooperation with Kunst-Werke Berlin,
Auguststrasse 69.
We are pleased to be working together with an art institution which has
gained recognition for its projects on the documentary significance of historical and artistic photography and films. Kunst-Werke has consistently demonstrated that one of its aims is to develop the use of exhibitions as a medium for furthering political and scholarly discussions.
The exhibition Verbrechen der Wehrmacht. Dimensionen des Vernichtungskrieges
1941-1944 begins by examining questions concerning international law and military law. The dimensions of the war of extermination against the Soviet
Union will be presented within six theme complexes. The exhibition also documents public discussion in Germany - from 1945 to the present - about the role of the Wehrmacht and the crimes it committed. A special section will deal with "Photographs as historical sources".
