Для того, чтобы это хоть как-то понять, мне пришлось посмотреть в том же FM 101-5-1 что такое engagement area, interdiction и mobility corridor. По смыслу получается - места возможного продвижения противника, где в силу местности его можно блокировать небольшими силами. Перевод получается нечто вроде "ключевая (важная) простреливаемая зона". EA - для массированного нападения и уничтожения противника.
