Some recent airplane and helicopter crashes in Afghanistan:
Sept. 2, 2006: A NATO Nimrod MR2 plane crashes near the southern city of Kandahar, killing 14 British troops.
Aug. 31, 2006: A Dutch F-16 fighter jet crashes in the Ghazni province in central Afghanistan, killing the pilot.
July 26, 2006: A civilian Mi-8 helicopter crashes in the mountains about 25 miles northeast of Khost, killing 16 people on board.
July 2, 2006: A U.S. Apache AH-64 helicopter crashes shortly after takeoff from Kandahar Air Field , killing one crew member.
May 5, 2006: A CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashes during combat operations in eastern Kunar province, killing 10 U.S. soldiers.
Jan. 22, 2006: A Red Cross Mi-8 helicopter crashes in the mountains of the Kapisa province, killing all seven on board.
Nov. 11, 2005: A Pakistani-owned Ilyushin 76 plane carrying cargo for the U.S.-led coalition crashes into mountains near Kabul, killing eight people.
