В крыло, после чего произошел взрыв топливного бака и крыло отломилось

Вот что писали англичане в декабре, уважаемый Алекс Антонов, когда МО обнародовало некоторые итоги расследования:

"The UK Royal Air Force C-130K Hercules medium transport aircraft that crashed in Iraq on 30 January, killing nine crew members and one passenger, was bought down when hostile ground fire caused an explosion in the starboard-wing fuel tank, the Ministry of Defence concluded on 8 December.
The Hercules was on a routine operational flight to Balad Air Base and flying at low level some 30 km northwest of Baghdad when it was struck by unspecified ground fire, causing an explosive separation 23 ft (7 m) from the tip of the starboard.
A report by the RAF Board of Inquiry said the separation of the wing made the aircraft uncontrollable and the subsequent crash was not survivable".

И далее:

"The MoD said that for operational reasons details of the exact weapon system used in the attack would not be made public".

:-))))

Кстати, оказывается боевики заявили о сбитии самолета именно ПТУРом с самого начала:

"Following the loss of aircraft XV179, a statement posted on an Islamic website by Iraqi insurgent group Ansar al-Islam claimed its fighters had tracked the aircraft, "which was flying at a low altitude, and fired an anti-tank missile at it".
