Friday, September 29, 1995. A young Algerian, Khaled Kelkal, is cornered by police in Lyons. Lying on his back near a bus stop, he raises his arm holding a gun - an important suspect, the police claim, in the bombing attacks on Paris. Censored from the TV coverage of the shoot-outs are the words, 'Finish him off. Finish him off.' The government claims that the worst of the bombing attacks are over. Two weeks later, the Paris Metro is bombed again. The banlieus, the outer suburbs of Paris where the young French kids of Algerian background live, erupt in almost daily violence with the police.
