06/28/05 AP: U.S. military helicopter was hit by small arms fire in Tal Afar
The OH-58 Kiowa reconnaissance helicopter was forced to land and it sustained some damage in the incident Monday night, Franzen said. He did not immediately provide further details. Tal Afar is about 93 miles east of the Syrian border.
