DF arrived in Romny early that afternoon and crossed the river (I and III Bns) to get ready to attack towards the hills and village of Ssidorenkoff (Sidorenkoff?). While they were preparing the Russians attacked with 30 tanks, some being "superheavy types" and the Germans began to waver. Two Stugs (in the I Bn sector) supported a counterattack by I and III Bns. 88mms on the south of the river helped the counterattack. After about one hr 28 Russian tanks were knocked out. At about that time II Bn attacked across the river and as darkness was falling to a village, completely destroying a Russian Cavalry Regiment. Exploiting the success of II Bn, I and III. moved up even to II. Bn during the night.
