The Canister Ml, was developed for the M1916 Gun. Its purpose was to spray personnel with lead balls at close range.

Пишут, при отправке на фронт M1916 меняли на 37mm M3A1 AT.

While the TO&E prescribed 20mm guns, battalion AT platoons were actually armed with obsolete 37mm M1916 infantry "AT" guns due to the priority of fitting available 20mm guns aboard ships. The M1916s, used as training weapons, were replaced by 37mm M3A1 AT guns before the units were committed to combat.
